As a fully-qualified and experienced violin teacher (with a Master’s degree in Teaching and Violin Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels (Belgium) and a MMus in Performance from the DIT Conservatory, Dublin), my aims in teaching are to be able to share and convey my passion for the violin to pupils.
I am available to teach individuals or groups of all ages.
Depending on your aims, whether they are to become a professional musician or simply play for your own enjoyment, I can adapt to whatever level and objectives you may have. My philosophy is to help provide students with the opportunity to do and achieve anything they desire in music and become well-rounded musicians.
With my experience as a professional violinist and my academic background, I can offer a whole range of styles of music for violin, whether it is classical, traditional Irish music, jazz, pop and more. (For more info on this, please consult the Classical Violin and Violin & Other Styles sections of this website).
My pedagogical approach to teaching is to be open to a large variety of music, not only to help students acquire a whole range of styles but also to offer a programme that is personally enriching for all levels and objectives. (For more information on this, please see my thesis on the Violin and the Fiddle: Influence of Practice and Performance in Irish Traditional Music on the Classical Violinist.
I adapt my method of teaching on an individual basis/according to the pupil or group, using a range of teaching styles and methods (Suzuki, Colourstrings etc.). For more information on my teaching methods, please consult my Master’s research on Wellness in the Violin (in French).
I teach mainly in the Dublin 6 (Rathmines) area, where I am based (Oaklands Crescent), but can travel to your home, if outside Dublin 6, for a small supplement (to cover travel costs).
I can teach in both French and English.
